Petrochemicals and plastics maker Westlake Chemical Corp. has restarted vinyls production at its factory in Geismar, La., which was closed due to Hurricane Rita. Two of the company's units, including one polyvinyl chloride plant are operating at reduced rates. A petrochemical complex in Lake Charles, La., remains shut down until power is restored, along with completion of minor repairs that are underway.
