Writ petitions against Plastindia Foundation dismissed as withdrawn by petitioners.

15-Nov-14
Writ petitions against Plastindia Foundation with reference to shift in venue of Plastindia 2015 to Gujarat, have been dismissed as withdrawn by petitioners. With reference to seven writ petitions, the Court was not convinced with the contentions of the Petitioner’s counsel and was of the view that the decision to shift the venue was purely that of a Non Governmental body, i.e. Plastindia, which could not be agitated by way of a Writ Petition. Mr. Vikram Nankani, Senior Advocate representing Plastindia Foundation, submitted before the Court that only a small fraction of the exhibitors had expressed their reservations about shifting of the venue. Furthermore, the number of exhibitors, who objected to shifting of the venue was far lesser than the new exhibitors, who had expressed interest in participating in the Exhibition in Gujarat and were wait-listed. The Writ Petitions were accordingly dismissed as withdrawn.
