Trexel, Inc., an inventor of Mucell technology, has licensed it
to Milacron for extrusion process. Mucell micro cellular technology,
based on super critical blend of Nitrogen and Carbon Dioxide for foaming,
has so far been licensed to Injection Moulding and Blow Moulding.
Milacron has obtained the license to use the technology for extrusion
process for the first time. Milacron plans to develop this technology
on a counter rotating twin-screw extrusion system for rigid PVC pipe
and profile products. Mucell technology allows production of foamed
products at lower weight without any significant sacrifice of mechanical
properties. Rigid PVC products, which find usage in the construction
industry, will achieve significant advantages from this new technology.
