110 participants learn latest technology, markets and applications at Thermoplastic Elastomers 2012

Thermoplastic Elastomer, 2012- the 6th International Conference in S.E.Asia, was held at Hotel Westin, Pune, on December 4 and 5, 2012, by Plexium, India; in association with Chatsworth Hall, Singapore. This 2 day conference attracted over 110 participants who gathered under a common platform to learn latest technology, markets and applications of this wonder material. Conference was chaired by Mirisch Damani, a founder member of Plexium and Chairman and Managing Director of Zylog Plastalloys. During the inagural session, 2 key note speeches were delivered. Chief Guest Mr. Vipul Shah, CEO and Chairman of Dow Chemical India spoke on "Global market trends of Elastomer and its impact on Indian Economy". Mr. Shah highlighted Footwear and Automobile segments being 2 major growth markets for Elastomer in India, not only for domestic consumption but for the global consumption. Guest of Honour, Dr. Krishna Venkataswamy, Sr. Director of Global Research and Development, GLS; Polyone Corporation, U.S.A. spoke on Thermoplastic Elastomer- Innovative Specialty Materials. Dr. Krishna narrated how TPE was developed, patented, commercialized as long ago like late 50s. and current technology trend globally. He also showcased how TPE influences our daily life from the time we get up till time we go to sleep. Over the two days, there were 15 presentations. Many of the presenters had travelled from U.S.A., Germany, Sweden, Singapore, China and Japan; sharing vast knowledge and experience they had gathered over the years in their areas of expertise. These presentations covered wide and vivid subjects like compounding extruder, automobile applications, speciality TPE resins, and formulations, additives and plasticizers. An evening networking session on December 4th was an event attracted an informal interactive dialogue and discussion, over glass of wine and beer. Plexium will shortly announce its next conference with broadening its scope to cover TPOs, TPEs, and PP Compounds
