86% of China's LLDPE capacity comes of stream following shutdown of plants

16-Mar-16
Sinopec Maoming and Fujian Refining & Petrochemical Company Limited (FREP) have closed their LLDPE production on Mar 15, taking 86% LLDPE capacity in South China, as per ccfgroup.com. Sinopec Maoming’s close is a scheduled one, FREP's plant shutdown is accidental. Sinopec Maoming has stopped its 220,000mtpa HDPE/LLDPE swing plant for a scheduled turnaround with its upstream ethylene cracking unit, likely to restart on Apr 22. Fujian Refining & Petrochemical Company Limited (FREP) has stopped its two PE production lines, each of 500,000 m tpa capacity, following a technical problem in upstream ethylene plant. This has sent LLDPE prices in China north.
