BASF has brought back its cracker with capacity to produce 220,000 tpa ethylene at Ludwigshafen, idled in April, on stream. The company had, in September, announced a “warm-up phase” for the cracker. Affected by a weakening demand, BASF announced a minimum 3-month provisional shut down of its 220,000 mtpa capacity steam cracker at Ludwigshafen site starting mid-April. At that time, a total of five production lines were idled at the Ludwigshafen Verbund site.
