Borealis to stop production of rotomolding resin grades

23-Dec-09
End of March 2010 will witness the last production of all rotational molding resin grades by polyolefins giant Borealis AG. A large chunk of Borealis rotational molding resin portfolio is produced in company’s high density polyethylene plant in Beringen, Belgium, which is also scheduled for shutdown at the same time. The market share of Borealis rotomolding business has declined from its peak of 40% in Europe on account of the recent economic developments in Europe that have forced the rotational molding sector to focus on shrinking end-user markets dominated by cost reduction. Limited current production possibilities in molding have prevented the Company from adding value to their customers.
