The Saudi Methanol Company's fifth expansion project of AR-RAZI has come on stream in Jubail Industrial city. AR-RAZI-5 is one of the largest methanol projects in the world designed with annual capacity of 1.7 mln tons. The new plant will add 1500 tons a day to plant capacity, scalable up to 5,000 metric tons a day. AR-RAZI currently produces over 3 mln tpa of products from its existing four plants. AR-RAZI was founded in 1979 as a 50:50 joint venture between SABIC and the Japanese Saudi Methanol Company, a consortium of major Japanese companies led by Mitsubishi Chemical Gas Company.
