Michigan will house the headquarters of new company K-Dow Petrochemicals, a US$11 bln JV between Dow Chemical Co. and Kuwait's Petrochemical Industries Co. (PIC). The new company will establish plastics manufacturing facilities for an extensive range of products like milk jugs, packaging materials, pipes and automotive parts.
Having chosen Michigan over Texas and Louisiana, K-Dow justified its choice by a presence of large Arab-American, proximity to an international airport, and the quality of schools present as per an official of the K-Dow. The new company will provide employment to 800 people in Michigan and 5,000 people around the world with the manufacturing operations slated to be established in Asia and the Middle East.
