KBR has been awarded a contract by Eleme Petrochemicals Co. Ltd (Eleme) to provide technology licensing and engineering services for the revamp of Eleme's 550,000 tpa ethylene plant at Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Eleme is owned by Indorama Group, Jakarta. The revamp aims to enhance operating performance and reliability of the existing 15 year old furnaces, improve run lengths and improve overall performance and reliability. The plant, originally designed and engineered by KBR, came onstream in 1995. The plant cracks NGL and feeds units able to produce 240,000 tpa polyethylene, 95,000 tpa polypropylene and 100,000 tpa of naphtha.
KBR will provide an extended basic engineering design package for the partial revamp of 6 Millisecond furnaces to incorporate its SCORE™ technology features. The project will continue through the restarting of revamped furnaces with a series of follow-on services under an existing Technical Services Agreement between the two companies.
