Marubeni secures contract for entire propylene output from first Vietnamese refinery

For the years 2009 and 2010, Japanese trader Marubeni has secured an option to market the entire propylene output of Dung Quat - Vietnam´s first state-owned refinery. The 140,000 bpd refinery, owned by PetroVietnam, is scheduled to come on stream in February 2009. Propylene output from the refinery will total to 75-100,000 tpa. In the absence of downstream plants, the refinery will be unable to use the output for captive consumption. The propylene will be processed only in 2011, when Vietnam´s first PP plant goes on stream
