New PO material for steel pipe coating: Dow’s breakthrough

07-Dec-09
DOW Chemical Company has achieved a breakthrough by introducing a new top coat and adhesive polyolefin material for 3 layer steel pipe coating systems. The new Dow materials meet stringent performance requirements for coating large diameter steel pipes when used in 3 layer coating system with a fusion bonded epoxy. This material is used in combination. DOW HDPE 12110G is a black high density polyethylene top coat material and AMPLIFY GR 320 Functional Polymer is a grafted adhesive resin. These contribute to the enduring corrosion protection of oil and gas pipelines. External tests on different coating systems using these materials exceed the requirements of the DIN 30670 and other international standards. A 3 layer steel pipe coating system using this material can help deliver good coating performance, excellent process ability and outstanding environmental stress crack resistance.
