Second Request by FTC to Dow vis-à-vis Rohm and Haas acquisition

09-Sep-08
US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has sent a "Second Request" to the Dow Chemical Company, American diversified chemical company, with reference to the company's planned acquisition of Rohm and Haas as announced on July 10, 2008. "Second Request" is a request for additional information from the FTC and is a normal and expected part of the regulatory process under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976. Dow will cooperate with FTC's request, European Commission and other national regulatory authorities to ensure a successful and prompt close of the acquisition. However, the close of the transaction will largely depend on Rohm and Haas shareholder approval and customary closing conditions.
