The progress of Shell Group's largest ever petrochemical investment in Singapore is as expected to initiate operations in 2009-10. Shell Eastern Petrochemicals Complex (SEPC) includes modifications and additions to the Shell Bukom refinery, a new world-scale 800,000 tpa ethylene cracker and a 155,000 tpa butadiene extraction unit on Bukom Island. In addition, the investment also includes the world's largest MEG plant having capacity of 750,000 tpa on Jurong Island. The key contractors for the SEPC are ABB Lummus/Toyo and Foster Wheeler Limited.
