India's Haldia Petrochemicals Limited (HPL) based in East Midnapore, West Bengal will see yet another postponement of a three-day workers' strike announced by the trade union which set to begin on Sep 22. Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) had earlier announced a three-day strike to start on Sep 22 to insist a permanent status be given to 183 workers working on contract basis since 2000. The HPL management has requested for a few days in order to resolve this issue, said a senior leader with CITU. However, CITU is not expected to be put off the strike for an indefinite period and expects a prompt and positive response from the HPL management.
