BASF is adding a low molecular weight modified polymer to its range of active ingredients for liquid detergents. The new additive Luvipur® 10 enhances the detergent power of liquid detergents for end consumers and will be supplied from 2009. "Our customers - European liquid detergent manufacturers - are operating in an ever more competitive market. Luvipur 10 gives them new opportunities for versatile product design," says Dr. Thomas Greindl, in charge of European marketing at BASF Care Chemicals and Formulators.
"Manufacturers can either increase the detergent power of liquid detergents and concentrates by adding Luvipur 10, or save on the use of active substances - anionic surfactants in particular - and hence save money. In this way, BASF helps customers to stay competitive with their products without compromising on detergent performance." The new BASF product is compatible with all standard formulation components and is effective at all water hardness grades. "Luvipur 10 is the latest in BASF's series of new developments in the area of active ingredients for detergents and cleaners," adds Dr. Alfred Ruland, global development manager, BASF Care Chemicals and Formulators. BASF launched its newly developed surfactant Lutensol® M at the surfactant congress CESIO as recently as June, and presented its new rheology modifier Sokalan® AT 120 for liquid detergents at the SEPAWA 2008. BASF plans to deliver the first batches of Luvipur 10 in 2009. Further polymers and surfactants are in the pipeline. The new plant for the chelator Trilon® M goes on stream in 2010, which will raise overall capacity for five BASF chelator brands to 120,000 tons annually.
