A US$100/ton decrease expected in Asian polypropylene prices to Brazil for November

20-Oct-11
Asian offers are expected to fall by US$100/mt in Brazil for November on lower offers anticipated from Asia next month. This can be attributed to weakness in buying in China amid slow demand in Latin America, as per Platts. Polypropylene offers are under greater pressure to drop vs polyethylene because of likely larger PP inventories with Asian producers. South Korean polypropylene offers to Brazil were stable over last week at US$1530/mt CFR for homo and at US$1570/mt CFR for co-polymer. Bids in the Brazilian market were heard this week at US$1490/mt CFR for homo and at US$1530/mt CFR for co-polymer. Israeli resin offers to Brazil were US$10-20/mt over the Korean ones at US$1550/mt CFR for homo and at US$1580/mt CFR for co-polymer.
