Power Glass(tm) is an innovative development - the company's first transparent solar cell on inexpensive thin-film plastic. This solar technology allows glass windows to produce electricity from the power of the sun. Thus inhabitants of buildings that have Power Glass(tm) films integrated into the skin of the building will be able to view the great outdoors as if they were looking through conventional glass windows. The difference is that these windows will now produce electricity.
XsunX is not only developing Power Glass transparent solar cells on PET and Polyethylenenapthalate (PEN), but is also in the process of developing ways of building solar cells at much lower temperatures than used in other solar cell manufacturing techniques. The advantage in the use of PEN and PET is that these plastics are less expensive than other similar polyamide based films.
It is believed that the use of PET and PEN plastics to produce rolls of true thin-film transparent solar cells may represent a high degree of commercial viability to the multi-billion dollar glass and high performance coatings industry.
