Thailand's Indorama Polymers has received approval for a 420,000 tpa polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plant in North America, at an investment outlay of US$140 mln. The project, due for commissioning in Q1 2009, will have polycondensation and solid-state polymerization (SSP) units. Financing for the project will be through a US$100 mln long-term loan and an internal cashflow of as much as US$40 mln through 2009. The PET plant would be adjacent and back-integrated with a purified terephthalic acid (PTA) plant in the USA or Canada.
