Asian polyethylene and polypropylene offers to Brazil are expected to increase at least US$30/mt this week, as per Platts. Some uptrend is expected in Asian price movements as prices in China rose by around US$50/mt this week.
The last polyethylene offers from Asia to Brazil were heard at US$1580/mt CFR for HDPE film, US$1560/mt CFR for blow molding and injection, at US$1620/mt CFR for LDPE, while LLDPE butene stood at US$1520/mt CFR. Bids in the Brazilian domestic market were around US$1540/mt CFR for HDPE film, US$1580/mt CFR or LDPE film and at US$1490/mt CFR for LLDPE butene. Polypropylene offers from Asia to Brazil were heard at US$1620/mt CFR fir homo-polymer and at US$1660/mt CFR for co-polymer impact. Bids for polypropylene in Brazil were around US$1580/mt CFR for homo and at US$1620/mt CFR for co-polymer.
A slow import market is expected due to a stronger dollar against the real ($1.81). On the last day of February, the dollar value was US$1.70 against the real.
