German chemical company BASF (M) Sdn Bhd is further strengthening its production footprint in Asia Pacific with the opening of its first polymer dispersions production plant in Malaysia. The plant has been built with BASF’s advanced production technology, which could accommodate a variety of acrylic products that are being developed in their Asia Technical Center in Shanghai, China, thestar.com.my.
“This production plant will help in producing materials from close proximity to raw materials such as the acrylic monomer complex which is being processed at BASF Petronas Chemicals in Gebeng, Kuantan,” said the Dispersions and Pigments, Asia Pacific senior vice president Jeff Knight. He added that this was their third polymer dispersions plant in the Asean region after the two plants in Jakarta and Merak, Indonesia. He also said that the local production in Malaysia would help them in coping with the fast-changing market situation in Asia Pacific.
