The Mangalore-based manufacturing site of BASF India Ltd has won two awards: the Prashansa Patra from the National Safety Council of India (NSCI) and the Super Achiever Award from the Kanara Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI).
The Prashansa Patra was awarded to BASF's Mangalore site by Mr. Oscar Fernandes, Hon. Minister of State for Labor and Employment (independent charge), Government of India, at an awards function organized by National Safety Council of India at Nehru Centre, Mumbai on January 10, 2009. These awards are given in recognition of the meritorious performance and for developing and implementing effective Occupational Safety and Health Management Systems and Procedures by winners. The Super Achiever Award from KCCI was handed over by Mr. Yogish Bhat, Chairman of Karnataka State Industrial Investment and Development Corporation & MLA of Mangalore South Constituency at a separate function organized by Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Mangalore, also held on January 10, 2009. The award winners were determined by the percentage increase in their turnover in the previous two financial years, percentage increase in taxes paid to Central and State Governments and other predetermined criteria.
