BASF Q1 profit rose by 66 %, earning $1.1 bn. Sales were up 11 %, rising to $13.02 bn.
BASF's oil and gas unit was the biggest contributor to the increase in net profit, bringing in some $625.3 mn, boosted by high crude prices.
The company's chemicals and plastics divisions also contributed to the gain, bringing in $550.4 mn and $347.55 mn increase of 70 % and 74 %.
