BASF to increase price of styrene-butadiene latex products in the US and Canada

03-Jul-09
Effective August 1, 2009, or as contracts allow, BASF will increase its prices by up to US$ 0.10 per dry pound in the United States and Canada on all Butonal® and Butofan® styrene-butadiene high and medium solids latex products used in the adhesives, carpet, construction, fiber bonding, automotive and foam markets. Also, the company announced to raise price by the same amount in United States and Canada for all Styrofan® and Styronal® styrene-butadiene latex products used in the adhesives, architectural coatings, sealants, construction, paper and nonwovens markets. The company said that the rise is necessary as a result of increases in the prices of raw materials, in particular styrene and butadiene, coupled with freight-related fuel surcharges and manufacturing energy requirements.
