BASF to up prices for butanediol and derivatives in North America

Effective July 1, 2009, or as contracts allow, BASF, the world's leading producer of butanediol and its derivatives, will increase its off-list prices in the United States, Canada and Mexico by US$0.03 per pound for 1,4 Butanediol (BDO), Tetrahydrofuran (THF), PolyTHF® Poly(tetramethylene ether)glycol, gamma-Butyrolactone (GBL) and N-Methylpyrrolidone (NMP). BDO and its derivatives are used for the production of engineering plastics, polyurethanes, solvents, electronic chemicals and elastic fibers (PolyTHF).
