Bayer MaterialScience to invest in polyisocyanate manufacturing facility in India

27-Mar-09
With an aim to become the leading polyurethane raw material supplier in India, Bayer MaterialScience will outlay EUR 20 mln to establish a new aromatic and aliphatic polyisocyanate manufacturing facility in India. The new plant, set to be based in Ankleshwar (Gujarat) and scheduled for 2011 start-up, will produce Desmodur® polyisocyanates, raw materials for the formulation of a variety of polyurethane coatings, adhesives for flexible packaging and sealants. "This investment underlines our commitment to India and the region. Despite the currently weak global economic scene, we believe India holds much promise for sustainable market growth," says Dr. Joachim Wolff, head of the Coatings, Adhesives, Specialties (CAS) Business Unit and member of the Executive Committee of Bayer MaterialScience.
