Canadian plastics producer, NOVA Chemicals, has announced to curtail expandable polystyrene (EPS) capacity at its Monaca site (Pennsylvania, US) from 285 to 180 mln lbs /year and up the capacity at its Painesville site (Ohio, US) from 85 to 100 mln lbs/year to focus on best-in-class EPS product line. The changes are consistent with the company's previously announced cost reduction in styrenics. The updated product slate includes ten resin grades for cup and container; protective packaging and construction applications like insulation, geo-foam and insulated concrete forms.
