Borealis introduces Daploy™ for higher performance in soft foam applications

25-May-05
Borealis, a leading innovative provider of plastics solutions, with more than 40 years of experience in polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP), has introduced Daploy™ WB260HMS, a high melt strength polypropylene (HMS-PP)- a breakthrough in high melt strength PP (polypropylene) development. It is designed to meet consumer demands for higher performance in soft foam applications in protective packaging, shoe construction and automotive seating segments. These advances in PP technology will position Daploy* as a highly competitive material in applications currently dominated by polyurethane, polyethylene and PVC foams. Plastics designers and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) will find the material useful in the automotive, sports and leisure, furnishing and packaging industries due to the wider choice it will provide in tailoring a new level of softness for foam properties to meet specific end-user requirements. Advantages of Daploy™ WB260HMS: * Can be processed on standard foam extrusion machinery * Designed to capitalize on temperature and chemical resistance as well as on the strength of polypropylene. * Overcomes the stiffness of HMS PP that had previously excluded their use for the production of soft foams * Has a considerably wider foaming temperature window than conventional HMS grades of PP.
