Borealis plans capacity increase at Austria
Denmark's Borealis has planned a Euro 10 mln capacity expansion at its 770,000 mta of polyolefins plant at Schwechat, Austria. The company estimates to have its plant up by last week September, shutting it down for 5-6 weeks for maintenance as well capacity upgradation.
LLDPE and polypropylene (PP) capacity will see an increase. 3 existing LLDPE lines with a total capacity of 200,000 mta are to be mothballed, resulting in a net output gain of 150,000 mta, at a cost of Eur 200 mln. Capacity of the existing PP plant at the site, Borstar, would rise by 90,000 mta to 300,000 mta.
