Borouge on course to triple polyolefins output to 2 mln tons by 2010

Borouge - a joint venture between Denmark-based petrochemical group Borealis and state-run Abu Dhabi National Oil Co (ADNOC), is well on track to triple its polyolefins output to 2 mln tons by 2010. To meet this, Borouge has commenced construction for expansion of its Ruwais plant in Abu Dhabi - Borouge 2. The project includes : A new ethylene cracker - the largest grass-roots gas cracker in the world Two Borstar polypropylene plants with an annual capacity of 800,000 tons A Borstar enhanced 540,000 tpa polyethylene plant An olefins conversion unit with total annual output of 752,000 tons of propylene plus utilities and off sites to support the expanded production. Borouge 2 is being constructed alongside Borouge's existing production facilities at Ruwais, Abu Dhabi, UAE.
