Braskem to resume operations at South Brazil naphtha cracker

Braskem, the leading Brazilian petrochemical company has reportedly decided to shortly resume operations at its Triunfo Complex based 720,000 mtpa naphtha cracker in Rio Grande do Sul (South Brazil).The company stalled the cracker last month owing to the sliding international and domestic ethylene demand. In December, the leading player in thermoplastic resins industry in Latin America announced withdrawal from its PET business by end of 2008 owing to a report which highlighted non-viability of the segment.
