A consortium of Petrofac (Great Britain), Linde AG (Germany), and GS Engineering & Construction Corporation (South Korea) will build a US$3.7 bln petrochemical plant in Kazakhstan’s Tengiz and Karabatan regions, about 1,500 kilometers southwest of the capital Astana, as per The Times of Central Asia. The new plant will have an annual production capacity of 400,000 tons of polyethylene. The US$77 mln first phase of the contract, will involve the consortium undertaking engineering work on an Open Book Estimate (OBE).
