Cepsa acquires halted Spanish PET facility from La Seda for US$42 mln

Spanish oil refiner Compania Espanola de Petroleos (Cepsa) has concluded acquisition of a halted polyethylene terephthalate (PET) unit at San Roque, Spain, from La Seda de Barcelona, as per Platts. The purchase will be the first PET-making facility that Cepsa will own, and will help it extend its presence in the petrochemical value chain Cepsa's petrochemical subsidiary Cepsa Quimica paid Euro 32 million (US$42 mln) for Artenius San Roque, which operates the 175,000 tpa PET facility near Cadiz, southern Spain. Cepsa intends to restart the plant, closed since September 2008, in Q1-2011
