More than 80% of the work has been done at Chevron Phillips Chemical Company's U.S. Gulf Coast Petrochemicals Project, which involves the construction of an ethane cracker at its existing Baytown facility and two polyethylene units in Old Ocean. The company expects the entire project to be fully operational in H2-2017, as per Bizjournals.com. The new ethane cracker should produce about 1.5 mln metric tpa and the new polyethylene units will produce up to 500,000 metric tpa.
