Japan's Chiyoda Corp. plans to partner Azerbaijan's state energy firm SOCAR in the construction of petrochemical plants in the ex-Soviet state and in neighbouring Turkey. SOCAR is currently evaluating the Japanese firm's offer.
SOCAR has recently announced plans to raise up to 22 bln euros (US$33.94 bln) to invest in building new oil and gas refineries in Azerbaijan. SOCAR also plans to start building an oil processing and petrochemical complex in Turkey in October this year as part of a consortium that includes Turkish energy company Turcas TRCAS.IS.
