Clariant unveils new specialty chemicals unit in Colombia

In a bid to cater to the markets with good growth potential in Colombia, Clariant has inaugurated a specialty chemicals unit in Cota. The new plant, built at an investment of US$15 mln will produce a broad range of specialty chemicals and masterbatches. Colombia is an important market for specialty chemical makers and an attractive production location with favorable conditions. Growth potential of the oil services and mining sector in Colombia is robust. Clariant had earlier strengthened its masterbatches and oil service capabilities in Colombia by acquiring MasterAndino, one of the country's largest masterbatches supplier, and Toschem, a leading supplier of chemicals for the oil and water treatment industry.
