The construction of Petroguisa's purified terephthalic acid (PTA) and partially oriented yarn (POY) project has started in Brazil. This project is a 50:50 joint venture with Citene. The project will produce 640,000 tpa of PTA from 2009 onwards. The 215,000 tpa PTA plant will commence in 2007. The approximate cost for PTA and POY facilities are US$542 million and US$320 million respectively.
