Copolyester approved by Canadian Government for food contact applications

12-Aug-08
The Eastman Chemical Company's copolyester, Eastman Tritan, has been approved for use in food contact applications by the Canadian government. The material has cleared the stringent safety testing and procedures required by products that come into contact with food and beverages prior to clearance for use. The "favourable opinion" obtained from the Canadian Food Directorate is not a legal requirement. However, it is a means of ensuring customers that a material has been evaluated and deemed acceptable from a chemical safety standpoint. The material can be used in a broad range of applications including housewares and appliances. Products moulded with its copolyester can be repeatedly washed without crazing, cracking and hazing.
