The Dow Chemical Company (Dow) has announced completion of the sale of its interest in the Vinyl Acetate Monomer (VAM) plant in Cabo de Santo Agostinho, State of Pernambuco, Brazil to JB Group. As part of the transaction, employees of the Cabo facility, along with equipment and site-specific assets have been transferred to JB Group. As part of its commitment to the VAM business and VAM customers in Latin America, Dow will continue to serve as the local distributor of VAM from the Cabo plant.
VAM is a key raw material used in emulsion polymers, resins, and intermediates used in paints, adhesives, coatings, textiles, wire and cable polyethylene compounds, laminated safety glass, packaging, automotive plastic fuel tanks and acrylic fibers.
