Taiwan's Formosa Petrochemical Corp plans to delay maintenance of naphtha processor that turns the crude distillate naphtha into ethylene, and is repaired every two years. This delay has been mulled in anticipation of launching a new plant in Q2-2007 that will boost Taiwan's .2 million metric ton ethylene capacity by 42%.
Formosa has also obtained approval of postponing the shutdown after meeting Government safety guidelines.
