Viet Nam's first oil refinery has been completed after 44 months of construction. Operations have resumed at the Dung Quat Oil Refinery after Technip officially handed over the refinery over to Binh Son Petrochemical Refinery Company. The 148,000 bpd refinery started test runs in February 2009, shut from August-September on account of operational problems, started briefly and shut again in December for checks and equipment replacement. Repairs and installation of new equipment to solve teething problems has been completed. The plant has the capacity to process 6.5 mln tpa of crude oil, expected to meet over 30% of the country's petrol and oil needs.
