EPA seeks additional paperwork from FPG on environmental assessment of expansion projects of sixth naphtha cracker

07-Oct-11
The Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) has asked the sixth naphtha cracker to submit additional paperwork on the environmental assessments of its expansion projects for which it is seeking approval, as per CNA. The EPA made the decision after hearing the environmental impact report presented by the Formosa Plastic Group (FPG). In the report, the FPG did not specify whether it is capable of dealing with additional waste that will be produced by the sixth- and seventh-stage expansion projects. The EPA ruled that safety at the plants should also be improved in light of the frequent incidents at the complex.
