Exports resume from Formosa Petrochemicals’ Mailiao Refinery

07-Oct-11
Formosa Petrochemical Corp. lifted a halt on exports from its Mailiao oil refinery and will ship a fuel-oil cargo to Singapore next week, as per Taiwannews.com. 50,000 tons will be loaded on the Brightoil Lion around Oct. 11. Diesel exports have also “returned to normal,” while gasoline supplies remained disrupted after a Sept. 6 fire at an alkylation unit. On Aug. 1, the Taiwanese major had declared a “system-wide force majeure” that affected exports of products including fuel oil, diesel, jet fuel, gasoline and methyl tertiary-butyl ether, a motor-fuel additive. It shut the refinery in Yunlin county after a leak at a propylene-recovery unit on July 30 damaged some cables. Almost no crude refined in August, an average of 380,000 bpd was refined in September, and it expects to process 400,000 to 420,000 bpd this month.
