Retail-ready containers with ethylene absorbing film to extend shelf life are being offered by Chantler Packaging. The Mississauga, Ontario-based company has launched PrimePro Core, an ethylene absorbing film technology applied to containers that are suited for retail displays, according to a news release.
“PrimePro Core’s incorporation into rigid produce retail corrugate and paperboard easily extends shelf life,” Grant Ferguson, vice president of sales and marketing for Chantler Packaging, said in the release. “But more importantly, it reduces food that goes to waste.” The PrimePro Core technology has been piloted in partnership with Flexomed, a packaging, printing and graphics company based in Valencia, Spain. Chantler took the PrimePro shelf life extension technology and laminated it to corrugated trays and compact boxes, leading to an application of ethylene absorbing material without the need for additional materials or labor, such as tying, sealing or gassing.
