The Evangeline pipeline, which carries up to 2.6 bln lb/yr of ethylene between storage hubs in Texas and Louisiana, resumed operations, operator Boardwalk Pipeline Partners confirmed as per Argusmedia.com. The pipeline was shut down in October after a leak was discovered in Cameron Parish, Louisiana. The US Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) approved the restart of the line at 80% of its previous pressure.
The outage left ethylene stranded at the Mont Belvieu, Texas storage hub, suppressing prices in that location and driving prices for ethylene at the Choctaw, Louisiana storage facility higher due to the resulting supply constraint.
