Yet another worker died in a fire that broke out at the Sasol plant in Secunda, halting operations due to a labour department probe. This death brings the total death toll at Sasol since the middle of last year, to 11. A blast has left 10 dead and 360 injured during a planned maintenance drill at Sasol's ethylene plant in Secunda in September last year.
The latest victim died in a piping fabrication shop run by a contractor, at Sasol's Secunda plant - on the second day of a commission of inquiry. A prohibition notice halting operations at the plant has been served and will remain in force until investigations are complete.
