In 2021, the market should total US$4.2 bln; more than double the market's value of US$2 bln in 2016, as per BCC Research. Demand for chitin and chitosan has partly increased because as environmentally friendly products, their increased consumption as substitutes for the harmful chemicals used in water treatment, fertilizers and pesticides could reduce environmental toxins.
