Russia's Tomskneftekhim (TNKh) has launched a project to expand production of polypropylene and polyethylene capacity at its plant in the west Siberian city of Tomsk, as per europeanplasticsnews.com. A subsidiary of Sibur Holding, the company plans to increase its HDPE capacity from 245,000 tpa to 270,000 tpa, and PP output by 10,000 tpa to 140,000 tpa in the latest project scheduled to be completed in 2017.
TNKh is reported to be investing around €167 mln in modernising its technology. The upgrade scheme and expansion program will allow it to extend its polymer product range leaving it more competitive in its markets in the former Soviet states.The Tomsk site has monomer production capacities of 300,000 tpa for ethylene and 150,000 tpa for propylene.
