Honeywell India plans to establish a Technology Centre in Gurgaon at an investment of US$34 mln to expand its global research capabilities in refining, petrochemical and other technologies. The centre, to be managed by managed by UOP India, will primarily have pilot plans for developing and demonstrating refining and petrochemical process technology. The center will also include labs for process and applications development for other Specialty Materials technology areas, which will include fluorine products and nylon materials. The center is expected to employ 100 within five years.
“This center will allow us to conduct development closer to our end customers, while at the same time tapping the recognized engineering talent of India,” said Andreas Kramvis, president and CEO of Honeywell Specialty Materials. “It will strengthen our product and process commercialization capabilities globally, but especially in Asia, where it will complement our existing research center in Shanghai, China.”
Earlier this year, Honeywell has inaugurated US$50 mln research, development and engineering facility in Bangalore, India, the second Honeywell research and development facility in that city, to support Honeywell businesses.
Honeywell Specialty Materials is a global leader in providing customers with high-performance specialty materials, including fluorine products; specialty films and additives; advanced fibers and composites; intermediates; specialty chemicals; electronic materials and chemicals; and technologies and materials for petroleum refining and petrochemical production.
