Huntsman to purchase technology for LDPE plant from ExxonMobil

In September 2004, Huntsman announced plans to build a 400,000 tpa LDPE plant, at an estimated investment of £200 million. Huntsman has signed a contract to purchase a Technology License from ExxonMobil for the world-scale low density polyethylene (LDPE) manufacturing facility to build at the Wilton International site on Teesside, UK. Work commenced on the new Huntsman facility and completion is due in Q3 - 2007. The technology will be provided by ExxonMobil Chemical. Huntsman and ExxonMobil have also signed a pre-marketing contract on LDPE. Huntsman has also signed a contract with SembCorpSimon-Carves to design the new plant.
